Does Cindy Anthony Believe 100% in Casey Anthony?

17 Nov

On August 5, 2008, Cindy Anthony made a statement to the press concerning her belief in the veracity of the information supplied by her daughter in connection with the disappearance of toddler Caylee Anthony.

Mrs. Anthony’s comments may be found at the following link.

http://articles.cnn.com/2008-08-27/justice/fla.missing.girl_1_caylee-casey-anthony-grandmother-cindy-anthony?_s=PM:CRIME

Cindy Anthony: “Casey’s maintained that she’s protecting Caylee, and she’s also protecting the family from physical harm. We believe that 100 percent.”

“Casey’s maintained” – Cindy Anthony makes a statement about the actions of Casey Anthony.  Casey has “maintained”.  Cindy Anthony claims Casey Anthony stuck with the same story from the beginning even though all of America knew as this statement was made Casey Anthony had revealed to the police on the second day of the investigation she lied about the circumstances of Caylee’s disappearance, her personal work status, and the locations where Caylee may have last been seen.  “Maintained” also has an implication the story has been tinkered with like an old car.  As time has progressed, the story has been modified to keep it operational.  There is also an implication the story must be true because Casey Anthony continues to tell it.  “Maintained” is in the past tense.  This is an action of the past, not a statement Casey Anthony continues to maintain this story.

“that” – Mrs. Anthony distances herself from what Casey Anthony “maintained”.

“she’s protecting Caylee” – Casey Anthony has claimed “she’s protecting Caylee”, but may no longer be claiming such.

“and she’s also protecting the family” – By adding the words “she’s also”, Mrs. Anthony calls into question whether this portion is something Casey Anthony “maintained”.  Did Casey Anthony claim to be protecting the family?  If so, why the need to tack it on with an additional subject and the extra word “also”?  “Protecting the family” is sensitive to Mrs. Anthony.  Casey Anthony does not protect her family, she protects “the family”.  Is Casey Anthony a member of “the family” she protects?

Order is important.  Most important to Mrs. Anthony is the protection of Caylee Anthony followed by the protection of “the family”.

“from physical harm” – This is the danger from which she protects “the family”.  But what is the danger from which she protects Caylee?  Casey Anthony does not protect the family from emotional harm, only “physical”.  Is Casey Anthony causing the family emotional or psychological harm?

“We believe” – Mrs. Anthony does not state she believes, but “we believe”. Who is “we”?  “The family”?  George and Cindy Anthony?  We do not know.

“that” – Mrs. Anthony again distances herself from what she claims to be the statements of Casey Anthony.

“100 percent” – “We” believes what Mrs. Anthony has said about her daughter “100 percent”.

We have learned Cindy Anthony wants us to believe if someone repeats a story enough times, it must be true.

We have learned Cindy Anthony wants us to believe Casey Anthony has maintained the same lies since Caylee was reported missing when we know her lies have shifted as facts were exposed during the investigation and we heard her changing her story as the police questioned her at Universal Studios in the office which was not hers on the second day of the investigation.

The anthony mantra – if you repeat it enough times it must be true!

At Universal casey admitted that not everything she told them (LE) was lies. I wish that the detective at universal with casey had asked her which things were true & which were lies. I wonder what she would have fessed up to as lies.

    • bullstopper November 17, 2010 at 4:15 pm #

As I remember, she admitted everything was a lie except for the Zanny being the last person she saw Caylee with on whatever day it was she says she left her.

The seamus o’riley website had some great write-ups of really early KC stuff if you are interested.

Cindy does not believe Casey committed any crime at all. This family has their own justified way of thinking, and Cindy Anthony is the BEST example of POOR POOR parenting skills! If the police were never to be involved, George and Cindy would bury Caylee in their own sick way and let Casey continue on in her sorry excuse of a life!

    • bullstopper November 17, 2010 at 4:16 pm #

This is what always makes me wonder why they chose to pour a new concrete pad in the back yard during this period.

MOLLY I THINK MOST PEOPLE WOULD BUT YOUR DEALING WITH AN ANTHONY.THEY ARE MOST PROUD OF THERE LIES.

  4. offthecuff November 17, 2010 at 1:44 pm #

Cindy also wants us to believe that there is a looming DANGER so great and fierce, threatening Caylee and the family, that everyone should be hands off!! Ask no questions! Leave the situation alone…all in Casey’s sweet little hands. Because SHE is the GREAT PROTECTOR who will SAVE THE WORLD!

So there is a threat within the threat…that if anyone dares to pursue this case (as in makes sense of the lies) that awful DANGER could suddenly overtake Caylee and wipe out the remaining Anthonys!!

    • bullstopper November 17, 2010 at 4:19 pm #

There is a threat insinuated by her language.

As time progressed, her threats evolved to the point she openly stated the media was ensuring Caylee would come home in a box.

Hi Bull stopper, always good to see you and your topics are always great and well written. I have to say somewhere deep down where-ever grinch cindy’s heart is located, i believe she really knows Casey killed Caylee. She will never act like it to the public. George definitely knows and so does Lee. Cindy has a very bad guilt trip over the fight they had and all that went down with her and Casey that fateful nite so it will take Cindy much longer to get to that place of resenting Casey and blaming her for killing Caylee but after Casey is sent to either death row or LWOP, the resentment light bulb i feel will eventually light up in Cindy and she will despise Casey, never forgive her, and move on with her life.

    • bullstopper November 17, 2010 at 4:20 pm #

Not only does she know, she is willing to sacrifice the lives of others in exchange for her daughter.

As usual, it’s all about the Anthony’s (the Casey and Cindy “me me me syndrome”)and anyone else can be just thrown under the bus. Yeck…….

Cindy Anthony: “Casey’s maintained that she’s protecting Caylee, and she’s also protecting the family from physical harm. We believe that 100 percent.”

BREAKING NEWS: We now have the missing audio/transcript pieces of the above statement.

Cindy Anthony: “Casey’s [lies have] maintained that she’s protecting Caylee[‘s body], and she’s also protecting the family, [Casey, primarily] from physical harm [such as suicide (George) disastrous make-overs (Cindy)insanity (Cindy’s belief in Caylee’s ongoing existence), public scrutiny, and of course, the DP]. We believe that 100 percent.”

    Also, Hello to everyone here.

  8. Hilde November 17, 2010 at 2:25 pm #

In the Beginning I believe Cindy wanted to make some Sense out of all that and therefore believed all that BS Casey was feeding her.
At the same time I believe Cindy deep down knew something was horrible wrong and she would never get to see her Grand Daughter Caylee again.
There had to be a lot of Anger towards Casey by Cindy and I believe there still is in spite of what Cindy is trying to make every one believe.
No matter what we think of George and Cindy I wouldn’t want to be in their Shoes.
It doesn’t matter how this Case will turn out, Cindy and George lost their precious Grand Daughter Caylee and I am sure they will always remember that their own Daughter is to be blamed for that.
The Anthony’s will never be the same again and when ever
they look at their Daughter they will remember what happened to Caylee.
Casey will be a constant Reminder of the Pain she caused her Parents.
Some things just can’t be fixed no matter how hard You try. Cindy might give the Impression to support her Daughter Casey in all of this but she will never forget what Casey has done to Caylee, make no Mistake Cindy does know what Casey is capable of, she just can’t or won’t accept it. JMO

It makes you wonder what would happen if KC was released and moved back into the Anthony house.

      • jon November 18, 2010 at 10:57 am #

I’ve always thought that would be the best punishment for Casey; setting Cindy loose on her. Oh, in public Cindy would be all tears, smiles and cuddles, but once they were behind closed doors she’d probably chase Casey around the house with a machete…….

      • bullstopper November 18, 2010 at 12:59 pm #

I think KC would just split again. I can’t see her moving back into the house. She hates those two.

  9. knight owl November 17, 2010 at 4:29 pm #

I agree with Hilde’s post. Bull stopper, yes that would be interesting to see what would happen if Casey beat this wrap and moved back home.

  10. knight owl November 17, 2010 at 4:37 pm #

Bull stopper, your post about Cindy willing to sacrifice the lives of other’s to save her daughter, is soooo true and sooooooooo wrong and unthinkable in every way imaginable. I believe Cindy wants to do anything to get Casey acquitted so she can say later to Casey, You killed my Granddaughter out of hatred and spite to me and George, now i have written the wrongs i may have made by getting you freed but don’t ever come around here again. I just can’t see Cindy and George ever wanting Casey to live with them again. Would be a constant thorn every time they looked in Casey’s eyes.

    • bullstopper November 17, 2010 at 6:15 pm #

It would be the waking up in the middle of the night to her standing over me with those cold eyes, a handkerchief, and a bottle of chloroform which would freak me out.

I keep wondering why Cindy believes KC even wants to move back home. She killed her kid to get away and won’t even look at her parents in court.

  11. diana November 17, 2010 at 7:56 pm #

    Hi everyone…..GREAT comments!

    *Bull
I don’t think Cindy thinks Casey WANTS to move back home. It would purely be out of necessity since Casey can’t (or won’t) hold down a job, and in or out of prison Casey Anthony will be a huge burden on her family for the rest of her life. She is mentally ill and Cindy needs to accept that and realize that she is NOT the “Mother of the year”, Great daughter, Caring person that she tried to lead people to believe.

    • bullstopper November 18, 2010 at 12:52 pm #

I agree KC will always be a burden to someone.

  12. knight owl November 17, 2010 at 10:38 pm #

Bull stopper, yea or one of her homemade weapons she was searching the internet on how to make. I fully believe Caylee was not meant to be her only fatal target. Casey blew her stack and ruined her three-some plan when she totally lost it after she and Cindy’s big blow out on the nite of the 15th and happened to kill only one, Caylee, off sooner than she had planned out. In my opinion should Casey go free she would kill again. I rank her right up there with Joran vandersloot.

    • bullstopper November 18, 2010 at 12:54 pm #

She didn’t even seem to be worried about whether or not she could get away with it from the flimsy story she originally gave the police. You have to fear a such a person if you sleep in their presence.

  13. knight owl November 17, 2010 at 10:46 pm #

Hi ya Diana, yea, agree with you on Cindy doesn’t believe Casey wants to move back home but would only be out of neccessity because she will not work. Casey is a couch potato until it is party time, then watch her work. I think should Casey beat this crime, she might want to think of living on the streets this time around, as she just might wake up in the middle of the nite with Cindy chloroforming her or choking her and this time could be lights out for dear mutha of the year Casey.

    • bullstopper November 18, 2010 at 12:55 pm #

Does George want KC to move back home?

      Does KC?

Assuming KC does go free and move backs home, how long will it last? And where will she go after that? Will men she offers to trade sex for room and board care she murdered her child?

  14. knight owl November 17, 2010 at 10:54 pm #

I say also Cindy is going to find out a lot of revealing revelations about this horrendous cruel crime Casey committed on Caylee, that she is going to come away with at the end of this trial she can no longer wish away or push away in her deepest inner being. I believe Cindy as well as all of us are going to have more of an awakening than we can imagine on what the prosecution knows about evil Casey and can prove.

    • bullstopper November 18, 2010 at 12:56 pm #

I agree. As crazy as this case has been, something has consistently come along to top the last unbelievable event.

  15. Linda November 18, 2010 at 2:08 am #

knightowl I agree with you 100%. I think that is why they haven’t charged George and Cindy with anything YET…………….I really do believe that if this case ever goes to trial that the prosecution and maybe even the defense will rip out the very souls of the Anthonys………..I just can’t forget what Cindys own mother told the cops…….”I think she (Casey) hated her mother more than she loved her daughter”.I believe the prosecution with lay out Caseys life and what she did all day and everyday…..and its not gonna be pretty..

    • bullstopper November 18, 2010 at 12:58 pm #

I expect some furious gum chewing. If you thought the mug shots of George and Cindy from the Zanny depos were shocking in the open hostility, they will be nothing compared to the expressions they will show during the trial, especially the prosecution portions.

  16. Celeste November 18, 2010 at 11:29 am #

I have often “related” to Cindy…because I loved someone so much that I could find ways to defend him constantly. I was always blind to the obvious when it came to him. If someone (even someone I respected) would try to tell me something negative about him I would go into protection mode and say and think things like “YOU don’t understand him! blah blah”. I would have been very capable of wanting to protect him even if he had done something awful (which thankfully he didn’t, he was only awful to me). Well…I guess I just understand the lengths that people go to in their own heads to make something acceptable. Cindy has to be the worst case of it anyone has ever seen. I know she needs help desperately and I hope she gets it…if she doesn’t she may slip into complete psychosis. Susan Smith’s mother still loves Susan Smith, even though she fully understands that Susan did the crime. That’s what I hope for Cindy…that she’ll catch up with everyone else one day. I did..(about the person I loved so adamantly)..I finally realized what everyone knew for so many years. It took a long long time.

Thank you for sharing your story.

I agree love blinds one to many of their loved ones’ faults.

However, I am not sure of the level of love Cindy holds for KC. We would all like to think a mother loves their child, but Cindy’s language in her letters to KC reveals love for Cindy is a multi-level conditional affair. The actions of the loved one causes the love Cindy holds to decrease or increase depending on her approval of the behavior. For Cindy, love is not unconditional, it must constantly be earned. For Cindy, the actions of a loved one are never glossed over in her own mind by her feelings for the loved one. Certain behavior can cause her to cease loving. Seamus O’riley wrote some fabulous pieces about this issue on his blog. I encourage you to read them as they offer intense insight into the mind of Cindy Anthony.

I believe Cindy’s obsession with painting her daughter as perfect to the public has more to do with Cindy’s perception of herself to the public. She wants to be the perfect mother, so her children must be the perfect children.

      • Hilde November 18, 2010 at 2:20 pm #

Bull Stopper I agree with You.
I believe it is all about Cindy and her perception how the Public sees her and her family. I don’t believe it has that much to do with her Love for Casey more like her own Failure as a Mother and keeping the perfect Family Image. Some People just want to show on the Outside a perfect family Image when indeed behind closed Doors it is a completely different Story. JMO

Thanks Bull, I love seamus oriley’s site! bben there many times.

totally agree about cindy & her need for perfect public perception.

Before Casey gets out, Cindy is going to build a special room for Casey…

I don’t think anything will shake up the Anthonys. They been tested again and again and have proven themselves unbreakable.

For instance, even if they already knew all about the location of the remains, wouldn’t they be in horror and shock about the find, instead of hangin’ at the Ritz?

Then out pops all kinds of stuff about George’s affair. No demeanor change.

Trouble has been the norm for this family forever.

  19. kmom November 20, 2010 at 9:46 am #

Brand new to this site. Some excellent, thoughtful comments here.

Recently I saw a youtube post where Cindy is speaking to a group of people assembled for a vigil & she unceremoniously ordered them to get off their a** and look for her grandaughter.

I am still stunned at the irony.

Cindy looked for Caylee, dialed 911, got LE involved-talked about the smell etc.

But suddenly she frees herself,(and Casey) from search or knowledge involvement, and launches those responsibilities with great contempt, onto the assembled like a concussion grenade.

It is their job to find Caylee because she has abdicated her responsibility, and ultimately, any responsibility attributable to the whole Anthony Clan, it is the people’s burden now.

It is gruesome to watch the sub-conscious implosion of this family and to realize that Casey’s conduct is more deeply seeded than just a being a teenage mom or a girl in trouble. She is simply following the family tradition of acceptable lies and transferance of blame by any means necessary.

    So horribly sad.

    • bullstopper November 21, 2010 at 12:03 am #

Thank you for the thoughts about abdication of responsibility to the public. I had not thought of their actions from that perspective. The yoking of the public to Cindy’s wagon is there.

But now I am wondering if it was less an abdication than an admission the responsibility of finding Caylee alive was no longer possible? True, Cindy laid it on the public as a calculated guilt trip.

Another way to look at it would be if Cindy was aware Caylee was in the woods as she references many times, did she continue to feel a responsibility to bring her home or did her only remaining duty lie in freeing KC?

  20. kmom November 21, 2010 at 1:00 pm #

Bullstopper- “yoking of the public to Cindy’s wagon..” Very nicely put. I am sure Cindy is still wondering why it backfired.

Nice follow up question, did Cindy feel more responsibility to bring Caylee back or was her duty now to lie in freeing KC.

And as you say, this could be the public admission moment when we learn that Cindy knows it is a futile effort to find Caylee because she angrily orders the public to “look” for her grandaughter, but not to “find” her, word choice is important here. Also note that she says “grandaughter” and not “Caylee,” further distancing herself from a “live” Caylee.

And more than one dynamic is at work here.

1.Subconscious admission that Caylee is dead
    2.abdication of responsibility by transferance
    3.Alliviation of guilt
    4.Atonement

All of Cindy’s conduct points to freeing Casey as her new role. And remains so, even now she writes to Casey about planning to search for Caylee once Casey is free. She pretends that Casey has not been caught.

    • bullstopper November 21, 2010 at 3:47 pm #

Good point about the letter. She is planning to search once KC is free. First, one, then the other. No looking until then. It is more important to free KC than find Caylee.
