When Will Brad Conway’s 15 Minutes of Hypocrisy End?

19 Apr

Even though defense attorney Brad Conway resigned from representing the parents of Casey Anthony in 2010 and has no current connection to the upcoming trial, he continues to speak to the press about the case.

Some of the newest gems from the Conway quote collection may be read at the following link.

Brad Conway: “I think one of the interesting things or one of the difficult things about picking a jury in this case is: How do you get rid of the people that want to be on the jury to gain notoriety?”

It is ironic a man who has no current connection to the case and never represented the defendant, a man who claimed he voluntarily removed himself from the case, tells the press he has an interest in the selection of the jury with a focus on “the people” who want to be connected to the case “to gain notoriety”.  “How do you get rid of the people that want to be” an attorney connected to the case “to gain notoriety”?  Surely, Mr. Conway could give the world a unique perspective on this question.

Comparing the Anthony case to the O.J. Simpson trial, Mr. Conway noted some jurors “wanted their 15 minutes of fame afterwards.”

The irony continues as Mr. Conway speaks about people who want “their 15 minutes of fame afterwards”.  After what?  After they resign?  After they have no legitimate reason to be speaking to the press about a matter in which they have no involvement?

Brad Conway: “Those are people I wouldn’t want on my jury.  But in a case like this that’s gotten not just national attention but worldwide attention, how do you avoid the juror that wants to be on there for that reason?”

“Those are the people” who Mr. Conway attempts to distance from himself with the word “those”, the very people who mirror the objectives of Mr. Conway.

“Attention” is sensitive to Mr. Conway, who tells the audience “this” case, which is close to him or to which he wishes to be close, has garnered not just “national attention”, but “worldwide attention”.  Mr. Conway is paying close “attention” to the type of “attention” “this case” is receiving.

Mr. Conway distances himself from “that reason”, the desire to be part of the “worldwide attention”.  Unfortunately for Mr. Conway, his own motivations must be questioned as he makes this distancing statement to a media outlet for dissemination to a wide audience as he continues to connect himself to “this case”.

We have learned… nothing.  Mr. Conway has NOTHING to contribute to this case or our understanding of it.

Hypocrite. Too many of them running around these days.

Oh I remember him. He’s the one who told Larry King on his show that there was no duct tape found at Caylee’s head still in her hair if I remember correctly. But Brad knows best I guess. 🙂 I think he’s finding it a bit lonely and boredom is setting in ever since he quit the Anthonys. I also think he might have been more than a bit worried at what may happen after the trial concerning his two clients and what they have done and said. Sorry Brad, but you can’t have it both ways Sir, you have to choose a side. 😉

I live in New York and everyone I know (family, friends, meighbors, etc) know absolutely nothing about this case. If I try to talk about it nobody’s even interested.

Brad was born September 10, 1965 in Washington D.C. He is the oldest of three children. Brad and his family moved to Brevard County in 1977 and lived on South Merritt Island. In 1981, Brad was paralyzed in a surfing accident just north of Sebastian Inlet. After nine months in a physical rehabilitation hospital located in Orlando, Brad returned to high school and graduated in December 1983 from Melbourne High.

      Yeah………..mentally .. 😀

  9. Venice April 20, 2011 at 1:46 pm #

Oh, wow…a surfing accident? At least the accident did not crush his spirit to continue on and practice Law. I thought for a moment there that Cindy had taken her hammer to his knees.

I’ve always suspected Conway is more than just a fame-seeker like so many others in this case. He was just a bit too quick to parrot anything Cindy or George said … and he signed on with them after everyone with a brain had figured out they were non-stop, unapologetic liars who were uninterested in justice for murdered Caylee if it meant blaming their princess, Casey. Anyone who knowingly parrots epic liars is ethics-challenged, in my world, and especially when he throws his support behind the abominable Anthonys. I wouldn’t trust Conway to walk my dog.

    • Sophie April 21, 2011 at 1:53 pm #

Well you speak for me. Awesome!

  11. Diana April 20, 2011 at 5:27 pm #

He is such a pushover and he could not control Cindy or George at all.

During the Zanny depositions he should have just stayed home, because he kept trying to stop questions that were perfectly acceptable to ask two people who were obviously lying to cover for their daughter. Cya Brad.

    Hi BullStopper, and all!
I’m just stopping for a quick visit to tell you it’s time to vote for Yuri for Grand Prize in the America’s Most Wanted contest. This is for the Grand Prize!

I’m sorry… I meant to also tell you that the voting BEGINS tomorrow!

Have a lovely night, all! 🙂

PS – Bull – great post, as always!

  14. 38special April 20, 2011 at 9:07 pm #

    Thank you Mr. Bullstopper.
I always felt that Conway was able to escape the full brunt of due criticism. He was and maybe still is (book deal) another lawyer that placated and pandered to the Anthony regime until he was caught up in yet another hot mess involving them. Does anybody in that town just ever say “no comment”?

    • sandra April 30, 2011 at 1:18 am #

      only the prosecution side.

  15. LindaNewYork April 21, 2011 at 6:32 am #

There was never anything to learn from Conway! LOL!

    • Venice April 21, 2011 at 8:54 am #

      He kept George busy.

      • 38special April 21, 2011 at 12:34 pm #

Venice! Finally we know why george has been AWOL.
Cindy might consider stealing a shopping cart for him to push going in and out of hearings, he seems to do better when he’s got a task.

      • Venice April 21, 2011 at 12:48 pm #

        LOL 38!!!!!!!!!

  16. Venice April 21, 2011 at 5:12 pm #

YES…the Stain is coming in. Therefore, I believe, the Body Farm will as well. Junk Science, huh??? Yeah, right.

    • B-Man April 21, 2011 at 6:00 pm #

i was curious if you (or anyone else) had a chance to watch the Bones episode regarding the Body Farm…what makes this series of interest is that it is based on the character Temprance Brennan the conveiced character by Dr. Kathy Reichs, the same person on the Defense team/side?

      • Rose April 22, 2011 at 9:29 am #

        and? i like Bones.

      • B-Man April 22, 2011 at 10:14 am #

well Rose, i thought it interesting that a forensics doctor who is currently teamed up with the defense and if i’m not mistaken her argument is against the body farm…i dont want to take anything away from what this current issue discussed i just thought it interesting that Bones had an episode regarding a Body Farm…

      • Venice April 22, 2011 at 11:12 am #

Interesting question! I could not answer it.

  17. Katprint April 23, 2011 at 1:29 am #

IIRC, Brad wasn’t paid anything by the Anthonys for his representation (Do they ever pay for anything? They didn’t pay for their Ritz-y hotel room and meals. They didn’t pay for their cruise. They didn’t pay for Caylee’s memorial service. They didn’t pay their mortgage…) so if he got some free publicity / advertising out of it then that seems fair.

Also, I believe him when he says that he wouldn’t want publicity seekers on the jury. I don’t want publicity-seeking jurors either. Or true crime bloggers, for that matter. I don’t see why that is hypocritical.

    • Numbers April 23, 2011 at 2:10 pm #

In her state deposition, Cindy admitted the Anthonys were receiving $20,000 from “48 Hours.” She attempted to diminish this sizable chunk o’change by explaining “we had to give Brad $3000.” So, yes, Brad was paid something. Just not enough to cover *his* mortgage.

      • Katprint April 25, 2011 at 2:22 am #

You may be right although I don’t necessarily believe something is true just because Cindy has testified to it, unless there is independent corroboration.

Nevertheless, even if Brad did get $3,000, that is pretty piddly. It probably would not even reimburse the cost of paying the court reporter for copies of his clients’ deposition transcripts, much less compensate him for his time spent at the depositions, reviewing and tabbing TES’ searcher records for three days, etc.

      • sandra April 30, 2011 at 1:31 am #

your quick to believe he got 3000, from the sumb-anthonys. they lie about everything, why not about paying him money? spindy lies everytime someone asks her a question, everytime she’s been one the stand she spins another story. the jury should be aloud to vue everytime she has been sworn in. they would surely see how many times she changes her story to fit the day. most impressive for me was when she stated well i just started taking new meds so im just now remembering things.(yeah there so clear now)lies, lies, and more lies.

    From WFTV:
    (With thanks)

Judge Belvin Perry DENIED the defense motions to disallow evidence involving the heart sticker, cadaver dog searches and alerts, and postmortem hair banding. The judge has yet to rule on air tests.

  23. Northerngirl April 27, 2011 at 6:53 am #

This would be a perfect time to allow Dr Vass’s work..with the K9’s and death hair banding and stain allowed to back up Dr Vass’s findings!
