Did Laura Buchanan Ever Hound the Anthonys?

9 Feb

UPDATE FEB 20, 2011:  When originally published, a picture of Mark Lippman linked from his firm’s website appeared in this space.  WordPress is no longer able to link to this picture.  But all is well.  The internet loves to hang onto it’s goodies.

On January 31, 2011, one of the new attorneys representing George and Cindy Anthony, Mark Lippman, made a comment to the press in response to a query about his clients intentionally contacting discredited defense witness Laura Buchanan.  His comment may be found at the following link.

http://www.wesh.com/caseyanthony/26681843/detail.html

Mark Lippman: “Oh, absolutely not.  Laura Buchanan was hounding my clients.  They did not seek her out.”

“absolutely not” – Not as strong a denial as a simple “no”.  “Absolutely” is an extra word indicating sensitivity to the key word “not”.  The phrase also mirrors a favorite Casey Anthony response, “absolutely” instead of a clear “yes”.

“Laura Buchanan was hounding my clients” – “Was” indicates this happened in the past, but is no longer happening.  Laura Buchanan does not continue to hound his “clients”.  “Hounding” denotes Ms. Buchanan’s contacts with the Anthonys were unwanted and excessive.

“They did not seek her out.” – Mr. Lippman is not comfortable with his last statement and must clarify by adding this additional detail.  Mr. Lippman feels it important the public understand Ms. Buchanan initiated the contact with the Anthonys, although he ignores the invitations to everyone by Mrs. Anthony on national television to join in the physical search for and provide telephone and e-mail tips regarding Caylee Anthony, who was missing at the time Ms. Buchanan initiated contact.

In stark contrast to the statement of Mr. Lippman is the documented evidence contained in the e-mails between defense attorney Jose Baez, Cindy Anthony, and Laura Buchanan.  E-mails between the three may be found at the following link.

http://www.docstoc.com/docs/70254862/Contact-between-Buchanan-and-Jose-Baez-and-Cindy-Anthony

“From: cindy anthony
Sent: Friday, October 10, 2008 7:52pm
To: Jose Baez
Subject: Re: FW: personal:! jose only

Laura Good Morning America wants to do a  piece Monday about the authorities not  following up on Caylee leads, they may call  you.  I hope that is OK.  Love Cindy”

This e-mail was sent through Jose Baez for delivery to Laura Buchanan.  This does not support Mr. Lippman’s statement about Ms. Buchanan seeking out the Anthonys.  In fact, the e-mail string indicates Ms. Buchanan contacted Mr. Baez, who then put Ms. Buchanan in contact with Mrs. Anthony.

In this message, Mrs. Anthony is requesting a favor of Ms. Buchanan, a favor Mrs. Anthony is not positive Ms. Buchanan will welcome, “I hope that is OK”.  Do people who receive unwanted communications from a stranger typically ask the stranger to appear on a national television program in their support?  Would a person receiving the unwanted attentions of someone who is “hounding” them supply the hounder’s contact data to a national television program as a source of vital information?

We have learned the statements of Mr. Lippman do not align with the evidence gathered by law enforcement in regards to Laura Buchanan and her relationship to Mr. and Mrs. Anthony.

We have learned Mr. Lippman may not be aware of the true definition of the word “hounding”.

Cindy Anthony has got to be the strangest bird I have ever come across!! She really did think she was one big moviestar, didn’t she?? Yeah…America’s Dumbest Criminals 🙂

    • Kim February 9, 2011 at 4:34 pm #

Laura really strikes me as desperate to be involved in all of it. She was practically throwing herself at Baez. (ew)

      • VENICE February 9, 2011 at 4:38 pm #

Their all one big slimeball rolling out of control 🙂

      • kas February 9, 2011 at 4:56 pm #

Baez, NaJame, The Anthonys– she just spitballed emails out there, pretending to be on the side of who ever she was talking to at the time.

Mr. Lippman probably made the mistake of thinking his client would actually tell him the truth. If he has followed this case at all, he should have known better. I wonder if he’ll last the entire trial?

  3. Twiglet February 9, 2011 at 6:09 pm #

I am wondering is Bozo will last through the entire trial ?

    • VENICE February 9, 2011 at 6:13 pm #

He’s an idiot even taking this to trial!

    • Kandy February 13, 2011 at 8:28 pm #

      Got a lol here…ty

  4. offthecuff February 9, 2011 at 7:54 pm #

Why is Cindy running so fast away from Ms. Buchcanan?

  5. midget48 February 9, 2011 at 8:21 pm #

thanks for the article, Bull. for someone who is suposed to be so smarrt, Laura needs a leson in speling. lol she also does not know when to use “there”or “their”. she DOES have brass b—-. what an obnoxous, pushy character she is. eww

  6. becca February 9, 2011 at 8:54 pm #

IMHO On Laura is she is an unbalanced woman who has delusions of grandeur. I think Baez and Cindy both knew this and were more then willing to exploit her in effort to raise doubt. There is no ends to the slimy measures these people will go.

    • cecelia February 9, 2011 at 9:30 pm #

ITA becca. they tried to exploit Joy Wray too and that blew up on them so pick the next mental person throwing themselves at their feet to try to “help the cause”. Can you imagine what an unpaid personal assistant would have been drug through if anybody had answered their ads for that position?!

      • becca February 9, 2011 at 9:54 pm #

I shudder at the thought lol these people are beyond bizzare. And poor Caylee is the last Rhine on their minds. The only truly innocent person in the whole clan and nobody gives her a thought 😦

    • Kandy February 13, 2011 at 8:31 pm #

Cindy played her part too, just like Casey she was being a big “event planner”. I may have Good Morning America call you. psst, bet someone who was lookinf for attention was drooling @ this point. What a bunch of cons.

  7. cecelia February 9, 2011 at 9:31 pm #

Excellent article Bull. Thanks for all your hard work and great posts.

  8. Zoe February 9, 2011 at 11:10 pm #

BRAVO on another spot-on commentary and analysis!
It is so refreshing to read over here at your site, Bull.

I need to get a quick “shout-out” to a very wise and logical poster, Damagdpets, who was unfairly maligned on that idiot “mission” blog!! I respect your thoughts and I agree with you 100%. The Anthonys have dishonoured Caylee in so many ways…it disgusts me. I tried to respond to you over there, but (surprise) it didn’t post. I think EVERYTHING is filtered there by the Queen-B*tch and you must be one of her “unwashed four” to get through. Huh! So much for rah-rah free speech and the First Amendment! No wonder JBMission just adores her sick and twisted conspiracy theories….LOL! You’d better post “HER way or the highway”. Geez….what a sloppy lush she is. Anyhow….”D”….I applaud you for speaking the unvarnished truth and standing by your principles. Just like Bullstoppper did about the whole Kronk issue when the lush tried to libel him (for the 10th time…). Cheers to YOU BOTH!

    • Zoe February 9, 2011 at 11:13 pm #

Oh—and I did not mean that YOU, “D” was one of those “unwashed four” that JBMission favors!! LOL! I also want to let you know that I hope you are stil allowed to post whatever you want to express over there without “restriction” or stupid condemnation. Free Speech is still alive and well….unless you are the Communist-loving “mission”. 🙂

    • Venice February 10, 2011 at 12:09 am #

      zoe,
awful, huh? jbmission and cult are such hypocrites it’s pathetic. they are a mean bunch. and, the nerve of Indygal calling US slandering nobodies!!! Wow…take a look at your own blog. Are they still on the Kronk trail? LOL!

  9. kathy February 10, 2011 at 1:37 am #

I noticed that Cindy signed off as, Love, Cindy. I only do this with relatives or very close friends.

    • bullstopper February 10, 2011 at 12:57 pm #

Relatives and very close friends who are “hounding” you?

Either her new lawyer is a bigger liar than Brad Conway, and that is an accomplishment as he is outclassed only by Baez and Mason in this case, or he didn’t bother to do even the bare amount of research any internet blogger can accomplish.

      • Katprint February 10, 2011 at 5:01 pm #

Third possibility: He doesn’t know what really happened – IIRC he was not yet the Anthonys’ attorney – and is simply advocating his clients’ position. His clients tells him that LB was hounding them so he says that LB was hounding them.

Similarly, although silence/”no comment” may be the better response, it is possible that the Anthonys instructed him to make this particular public statement. I have had attorneys come up to me and apologize (sometimes in advance!) for excessive theatrics in front of their clients; their clients wanted a show and so they put on a show. These same attorneys knew that I was neither impressed nor intimidated so they wanted to ensure I had not taken and/or would not take personal offense. Whatever…

    • Kandy February 13, 2011 at 8:38 pm #

Cindy only says ILove Cindy to people she is useing for something…i.e..Georgetta,mrs.Lee,Casey anyone she thinks she is smarter than (who she thinks is everyone, must run in the family)

  10. Molly February 10, 2011 at 2:19 am #

Again, the anthonys felt compelled to issue a statement. why? i don’t believe anyone accused them of “seeking her out” ! I think they hath protest too much. will they never learn to just NOT SAY ANYTHING!

    • bullstopper February 10, 2011 at 12:58 pm #

The Anthonys and their assorted attorneys all seem to feel any criminal prosecution must be played out in a public forum like TV.

  11. Northerngirl February 10, 2011 at 8:04 am #

More sindy spins and baez is right in the middle. This Lippmann looks and speaks like he is wet behind the ears..hope he’s brushing up on ” How to defend your clients when indicted for obstruction” for dummy’s.

    • bullstopper February 10, 2011 at 12:59 pm #

He could at least read the discovery in which his client’s names are referenced and assume everyone else has read the same info.

  12. floormodel February 10, 2011 at 10:33 am #

    “Love, Cindy”

that really says it all doesn’t it?

  13. Swift Justice February 10, 2011 at 11:05 am #

We all know by this time how Cindy does her spin….just like a top.
If she opened her mouth, everyone would see her split tongue.

Apparently, Mark Lippman is a novice at his job of defending clients like the Anthonys, mainly Cindy.
Cindy certainly has him ‘hoodwinked’ and he’s doing the spinning for her now.
Im’s wondering when the ‘light bulb’ goes on, what will he think about himself being taken for the ‘Cindy ride’?

He should jump ship now, like NeJame and Conway did, fast and furious.
Right now he’s under the “Spindy Spell” and it makes him feel important to be connected with this case.

Damagdpets-You were faithful to the truth as well as a gracious and patient poster. I think they actually like to slap people around.

    • VENICE February 10, 2011 at 12:12 pm #

Perfect example Anon: “slap people around”. I see jbmission as a Cindy Anthony swinging a bat.

  15. Victoria February 10, 2011 at 11:42 am #

~Damagdpets~ I very much appreciated your astute and honest comments. Seems that certain sites have little tolerance for that approach which is unfortunate.

  16. Anonymous February 10, 2011 at 3:34 pm #

Victoria-You did a fine job attempting to add something substantive to the conversation. It isn’t always easy but I admire anyone who has tried to be a voice of reason and civility.

I just read where NTS took Val to task and of course the nasty comments flowed. Had NTS read Val’s appreviated CV (which is posted on her blog) she would have realized that Val knew the difference between shit and shinola.

  17. Rose February 10, 2011 at 4:20 pm #

so damagdpets isnt allowed to comment on jb site anymore?

    • Venice February 10, 2011 at 4:32 pm #

no, he still enjoys their company.

      • Venice February 10, 2011 at 4:42 pm #

        BTW damagedpets,
can you please tell your buddy Indygal to not resort to name-calling? We ARE NOT STUPID contrary to her statement.

  18. Rose February 10, 2011 at 6:13 pm #

then whats the big deal now? he’s posted on this site before.

    • VENICE February 10, 2011 at 6:18 pm #

What’s the big deal?? About what?

    • VENICE February 10, 2011 at 7:53 pm #

So, how are you Rose? Have a great evening 🙂

  19. Rose February 10, 2011 at 8:30 pm #

Laura Buchanan claimed she was a team leader who searched Suburban Drive in September 2008 but did not find anything..Caylee Anthonys remains were found in the area three months later by meter reader Roy Kronk. Prosecutors claim the specific area was under water for several months before the discovery and could not be searched.Buchanan signed a form swearing in her opinion that the remains were not there. Casey Anthonys defense team has made the notion a key part of its strategy that someone other than Anthony places the remains in the woods..What were continuing to see is that this unyielding belief in Miss Buchanan has come back to bite them said Orlando criminal defense attorney Richard Hornsby who is not affiliated with the case..In her latest deposition Buchanan now claims she doesnt know where the remains were and may have only gotten within 35 feet.Earlier she produced a form for defense investigator Mort Smith to support the credibility of her claims. In the deposition Buchanan admitted to keeping the Texas EquuSearch form she was supposed to turn in and later altering it..Why would you believe some woman who comes out of the blue with a document shes not supposed to have?

  21. Anonymous February 11, 2011 at 10:05 am #

I don’t think anyone is saying they believe LB. The article is about whether or not both parties to the relationship lied about it. Were the emails and the requests between friend or foe or did each party use the other? Who hounded who? Why? It will all depend on the consequences of the behavior before anyone steps up and is demanded to tell the truth.

It seems many people who tell lies often times have to be COMPELLED to tell the truth. You know a media whore by the number of lies they tell.

    • Kandy February 13, 2011 at 8:44 pm #

I think it was a mutual symbosis.

  22. Anonymous February 16, 2011 at 8:29 am #

Perhaps you meant “symbiosis”-a relationship between two people in which each person is dependent upon the other;each receives reinforcement, whether beneficial or detrimental.
